3 Tips for Social Media Marketing

social media

The 21st century has really become the age of social media. Along with that comes social media marketing; from building your network, growing your client base, and advertising or selling a product – there are many considerations to fine-tuning the practice.  Keep reading for 3 tips for making your social media marketing efforts the most effective!

1. Consistency is Key

When you’re just using social media for personal efforts, you don’t analyze if you posted 5 times last week, but just once this week. It doesn’t matter if you go a whole week without posting on your stories, or if you’ve never recorded a boomerang before. That mindset needs to be changed if you want to grow your business via social platforms. Consistency is key, but not for content format.

Post consistently and regularly, but switch up the format often. Combine the use of images, videos, infographics, gifs, boomerangs, and resources! Be creative! While also switching up your content, make sure you’re utilizing all the features the platform has to offer. For example, Instagram has hard posts, stories, reels, and IGTV. Utilize all of those features to display different content. Create image graphics for your hard posts, and have a casual and interactive conversation including polls, feedback boxes, and quizzes in your stories. Use IGTV to show a 3-5 minute demo of your product, and record some trendy reels for some lighthearted humor (and exposure to non-followers).

2. Target Your Audience

Your followers are probably similar but not the same. You may have mostly women followers but are they in the same age group? Do they all enjoy health and fitness? Are they all mothers? Most importantly, are they your target audience? Instead of trying to post content to appeal to all of your followers, post content focusing on one smaller segment of your followers at a time.

Think of it this way – if you’re talking to everybody, you’re not talking to anybody. Pick a few things that mean a lot to you and curate your content around that. If you’re providing content for military spouses, then your content should be created with military spouses in mind – even though all of your followers may not be military spouses.

Pro tip: Your feed (hard posts, reels, and IGTV’s) should represent your niche and strictly be directed towards your target audience. Stories, on the other hand, you can post any content whether it be related to your niche or not.

3. Use Your Content as a Gateway

It’s important to remember that your social media platforms are just one way to grow your business. You want to utilize the content on these platforms to drive traffic to other areas of your business, whether it be your website,  a YouTube channel, a storefront, or even another social media platform. The more you use your content on your social media platforms to drive traffic elsewhere, the more your brand will grow overall.

An example of how to execute this would be if you just posted a new blog on your website and you want to drive traffic to that blog post, you should create a social media post including either the first paragraph or a summary of the blog and provide them a link to your website to read the full article. Including incentives, such as downloads or free resources, will encourage users to click to learn more.
Implementing these 3 marketing strategies will help you quickly grow your business utilizing social media platforms. We would love to hear from you about how you’re implementing these practices within your business. Comment below or send us a message!
